Housewife claims trial to offering fraudulent umrah packages

ROMPIN, Jan 31 2018 : A housewife claimed trial in the Magistrate’s Court today to 11 counts of offering fraudulent Umrah packages.

Zaiton Man, 48, who uses the nickname, ‘Kak Ton’  allegedly misled the victims into handing over about RM44,000 to her.

She is accused of committing the offences at Felda Keratong, Bandar Muadzam Syah, and Bandar Tun Razak here, between December 2016 and October 2017.

The charges framed under Section 420 of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to 10 years and with whipping, and liable to a fine on conviction.

Magistrate Najwa  Hashim set RM35,500 as bail for all the charges, and Feb 15 for remention.

The prosecution was represented by deputy public prosecutor Syamsul Kahar Ahmad Nadri while the accused, by counsel Osman Abdullah. – Bernama
