Free bus service now in and around Georgetown

GEORGETOWN — July 9, 2018: Penang today launched another free bus service or the congestion alleviation transport in this city to help ease traffic congestion.

Three buses are being used for the service on 12 routes from 6 am to 11 pm daily.

The eight-kilometre service which begins and ends at the Komtar bus terminal will take on Jalan Penang, Jalan Utama, Jalan Pangkor, Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah, Jalan Larut, Jalan Anson, Jalan Perak, Jalan Macalister and Jalan Dr. Lim Chwee Leong at an interval of 20 minutes depending on traffic.

Prior to this, he said the government had launched a similar service in Air Itam, Balik Pulau, Bukit Mertajam and Nibong Tebal.

Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng, who is also political secretary to the chief minister, said after the launch today that other routes being planned include Batu Kawan, Pulau Tikus/Tanjung Tokong, Bertam, Bayan Baru, Alma, Sungai Dua and Seberang Jaya. — Bernama
