KUALA LUMPUR — Feb. 19, 2020: Four personnel from the Selangor police headquarters, including an inspector, were arrested yesterday on suspicion of corruption and abuse of power relating to a drugs case several days ago/
A special team has been formed by federal police to investigate the allegations.
The Malay Mail Online had earlier reported that the four had demanded RM3 million from a Taiwanese man who on Monday lodged a report with Salak South police. The man and his friends were earlier arrested on drug charges and was said to have been unhappy with the extortion because the group had earlier been asked to pay a bribe during the raid.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Hamid Bador today confirmed the arrests of the four by a special team from Kuala Lumpur police.
It is understood that the case involving the drug processing laboratory in Cheras was being handled by KL police.
