Former PPC chairman out on bail after questioning by MACC

GEORGE TOWN — July 4, 2020: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has released former Penang Port Commission chairman Jeffrey Chew on bail after questioning him on the undersea tunnel project.

Chew left the state MACC headquarters about 1pm today, accompanied by Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, Bukit Gelugor member of parliament Ramkarpal Singh, and Jelutong member of parliament RSN Rayer.

Chew was remanded for four days relating to investigations into the RM6.3 billion project.

Chow told reporters that 12 or 13 people including current and former state executive councillors had been summoned for an interview about the project.
