More flood victims in Kelantan, Terengganu after second wave

KUALA LUMPUR — Dec. 19 2019: The number of flood victims in Terengganu and Kelantan has risen to 4,194 from 3,663 following a second wave from yesterday, with a majority being in the latter.

The worst affected areas in Kelantan are Jeli with 1,969 victims, followed by Tanah Merah with 1,211. Other areas affected are Machang, Kuala Krai and Pasir Puteh.

In Terengganu, the affected areas are Dungun and Hulu Terengganu.

Three rivers — Sungai Nerus, Dungun and Telemong — recorded water levels above the danger zone.

In Pahang, the number of victims is 1,071 individuals in the districts of Rompin, Temerloh and Bera while in Johor, 2,669 victims were at the evacuation centres as of this morning. This was a slight decrease from the 2,687 last night.

The affected districts are Kluang, Kota Tinggi, Mersing, Pontian, Batu Pahat and Segamat, with Mersing having the most number of victims.
