Fish wholesaler faces murder charge over fatal drunk driving case

KUANTAN — June 1, 2020: A fish wholesaler was charged today with murder for driving against traffic and ramming another car, killing its driver.

Teoh Kian Peng, 42, who is from Tanah Putih here, was charged with committing the offence on May 25. No plea was recorded since murder cases are under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

Prosecutor Nasrul Hadi Abd Ghani requested that Teoh be remanded at Penor Prison. Teoh was represented by Tay Yi Kuan.

Irwan Herman Kamarudin, 41, a supervisor with Alam Flora, was killed after his car collided with a four-wheel-drive vehicle driven Teoh, who was believed to have been driving under the influence of alcohol.

Teoh was believed to have driver against the flow of traffic for about seven kilometres before colliding with Irwan’s car.
