First group of Malaysian pilgrims arrive in Mecca

MECCA — July 23, 2018: The first group of Malaysian pilgrims arrived here from Madinah about 1 am local time (6 am Malaysia) to a rousing welcome by Tabung Haji workers.

When met by the Malaysian media after the ceremony, pilgrims delegation head Datuk Seri Syed Salleh Syed Abdul Rahman said the pilgrims were taken to perform their umrah after a short break. The group comprised 478 pilgrims who were in 11 buses.

As of today, 20 chartered flights bringing almost 10,000 Malaysians had landed in Saudi Arabia. The last batch is  scheduled to arrive in Jeddah on August 15. — Bernama
