SHAH ALAM — Sept. 18, 2018: As many as 15 men have died and 33 more hospitalised since yesterday from suspected poisoning after having consumed alcohol in several areas in the Klang Valley.
The victims comprised mainly foreigners and a few Malaysians. It is believed they had consumed two types of whiskey and a type of beer, possibly bootleg or contaminated.
Seven died during treatment at the Sungai Buloh Hospital, four at the Kajang Hospital and another four at the Selayang Hospital.
The first victim was a worker of a factory in Sungai Buloh. The latest death was at 5pm today, said Selangor police chief Datuk Mazlan Mansor.
Police are conducting more checks at several shops. — Bernama
