KUALA LUMPUR — Oct. 24, 2017: Felda has made clear that no new company has been formed in London by Felda Investment Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (FIC) as alleged by an opposition parliamentarian.
The agency’s chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad said PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli has thus made a serious allegation about the FIC forming a new company last October 17.
Rafizi had made the assumption based solely on a photo he saw of a document at the press conference by Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Razali Ibrahim in Putrajaya last Sunday in connection with FIC which is now under investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
Shahrir said Rafizi had assumed the date on the document to be the date of the establishment of the (new) company, while it was actually the date of confirmation by a legal firm on the copy of the share certificate of a company which was set up in 2015.
“He (Rafizi) had wrongly referred to a newspaper report and understood October 17 as the date of the setting up of the new company, which was actually the date on the copy of a share certificate noted by a London legal firm, Anthony Louca Solicitors,’’ he told reporters at Parliament today.
Yesterday, Rafizi via his blog and Facebook page, alleged that a new company had been formed by FIC based on a document shown by Razali at the press conference.
Asked whether legal action would be taken against Rafizi, Shahrir said this would be discussed at the meeting of the FIC board tomorrow. — Bernama
