GEORGE TOWN — Nov. 15, 2017: The charred remains of four in a family, including two children, were recovered at a house that was razed early this morning at Pengkalan Weld here.

Bernama reported that the bodies of two women and a girl were found in the living room on the ground floor while that of a boy was found on the upper floor.

Their identities have yet to be ascertained.

“We took about 20 minutes to control and prevent the fire from spreading to other houses,” said Lebuh Pantai fire station chief Mohd. Rozairi Abdul Rahim.

Rozairi said the victims failed to escape because the house only had one door for entry and exit.

Malaymail Online identified the victims as the mother, wife, son and daughter of MCA Tanjung division chief Lim Swee Bok.

They were Lau Sai Poh, 62; Chinese citizen Chen Yen, 35; Lim Yin Chun, 9; and Lim Jia Yiin, 8.
