KUALA LUMPUR – March 12, 2018: Proton yesterday unveiled a facelifted Persona, just 11 days after giving its sister car Iriz a similar treatment.
Starting today, there will be a flash sale for Persona and Iriz with only RM9.99 booking fee until March 22. Both cars will be launched simultaneously later this month.
Four variants will be on offer, starting from standard 1.6 MT, standard 1.6 CVT, executive 1.6 CVT and finally the Premium 1.6 CVT
According to Proton, it has made some 303 improvements in the Persona, mostly in refinement and aesthetics.
Starting with the exterior, the entire front end looks different now, incorporating the ‘ethereal bow’ and ‘infinite weave’ design on the grill and a smaller lower bumper flanked by LED daytime-running lights.
On the side, the car looks largely similar to the outgoing one except a brand new 15-inch alloy wheels. Moving on to the rear, there is a new mini spoiler, revised bumper and Proton letterings in place of the Proton emblem on the outgoing model.
Inside, the four noticeable changes are the infotainment unit (GPS, voice command, in built-sim), frameless rear view mirror, X70 gear knob, large colour multi-info display and a new instrument cluster design.
The rest, including the drive train is carried over from the outgoing model, albeit re-calibrated on which Proton claims that it has improved the car’s fuel consumption and refinement.
From the short media test drive yesterday morning, the refinement seems to have improved a little, with lower engine noise during acceleration and cruising, but there was no way to tell if the fuel consumption rate has been improved. However, strong points from the previous iteration of the Persona are still there which is an exceptional ride and handling compared to others in its price range
