KUALA LUMPUR — Aug. 23, 2017: Olympics badminton silver medallists Goh V. Shem and Tan Wee Kiong were knocked out of the World Championships in Glasgow today by a little-known South Korean pair.
V. Shem and Wee Kiong, who had received a bye in the first round, were defeated by Chung Eui Seok and Kim Dukyoung 21-18, 21-16.
Another Malaysian, Zulfadli Zulkiffli, also joined Datuk Lee Chong Wei and the doubles pair after losing to Thailand’s Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk 18-21, 13-21.
Yesterday Chong Wei lost to Brice Leverdez from France.
The country’s second men’s doubles pair of Chooi Kah Ming and Low Juan Shen will face Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen of Denmark in a second round match while the mixed doubles pair of Tan Kian Meng and Lai Pei Jing will face Wang Yilyu and Huang Dongping from China tomorrow. — Bernama
