KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26 2018 : The site housing the Kinrara Oval cricket ground must be returned to Perumahan Kinrara Berhad (PKB) after being leased to the Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) for 15 years, upon expiry of the lease on Oct 31 this year.
According to a statement by PKB, a joint venture company between I&P Group Sdn Bhd, Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT) and Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), the land has always been earmarked for development.
Pending its development, the said land was leased to MCA in 2004 for 15 years ending Oct 31 this year and MCA had been made aware that the use of the land was temporary and that they would eventually need to find another permanent home for their operations.
“PKB is merely requesting for the return of the land upon expiry of the lease and MCA has been given ample notice of this intent as the developer wishes to start the development for the said land.
“MCA has also run up a sizeable sum owed to PKB to date”, said the statement.
The matter is currently being moderated by the National Sports Council of Malaysia.
PKB is requesting MCA to honour the terms in the leasing agreement and return the usage of the land to the rightful owner upon its expiry. – Bernama
