CYBERJAYA — Jan. 9, 2018: Deputy Education Minister Datuk P. Kamalanathan today lodged a report with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) over allegations made at a Facebook account claiming that he had misappropriated funds and abused power.

The allegations refer to the building of 39 national type Tamil schools and the Special Stimulus Package 2012.

Kamalanathan went to the MCMC headquarters here in the afternoon with two officers.

The Facebook page claimed that Kamalanathan had awarded a contract to a company belonging to a relative which then was appointed a consultant that was paid RM20 million.

According to him, the company was appointed by the Finance Ministry in February 2013 while he was appointed deputy education minister only in May the same year. — Bernama
