KUALA LUMPUR — October 7, 2016: A piece of plane debris found in the Mauritius has been confirmed to be from Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 which disappeared in March 2014 with 239 passengers and crew on board.

The Boeing 777 disappeared on its way from here to Beijing, sparking a two-year search that has turned up few leads.

Analysis by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau found that the debris was consistent with the trailing edge of an aircraft wing, Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai said in a statement.

Two pieces of debris were previously also confirmed to be from the same plane.

The first was recovered from the French island of Reunion in July last year while the second was found on the island of Pemba, off the coast of Tanzania. — Reuters
