DAP retains Sandakan

SANDAKAN — May 11, 2019: DAP has retained the Sandakan parliamentary seat after Vivian Wong beat her closest challenger Linda Tsen of PBS by 11,521 votes in a by-election. Wong received 16,012 votes to retain the seat previously held by her father Stephen Wong.

Independent candidates Hamzah Abdullah, Chia Siew Yung and Sulaiman Abdul Samat polled 788, 178 and 126 votes respectively to lose their deposits.

The senior Wong held the seat for two terms after first winning it in 2013.
