Cuepacs wants govt. to give permanent jobs to ex-SPAD contract staff

KUALA LUMPU– June 30, 2020: The Congress of Union of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) wants the government to absorb all 241 former contract staff of the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) into permanent positions,.

According to Cuepacs president Adnan Mat, representatives from the group said at a meeting today that they had not received any update on the plan to place them with the Road Transport Department since SPAD was dissolved in 2018. Their contracts are to end on December 31.

The government had on May 23, 2018, decided to dissolve SPAD as part of a move to enhance the public land transport sector.

Subsequently the government promised and guaranteed that the contract staff would be offered permanent jobs in other agencies.
