PUTRAJAYA — May 29, 2020: After a “commendable” low of only 10 cases the previous day, the total in the last 24 hours jumped just over 10 times to hit 103, bringing the country’s total since late January to 7,732 cases.
Half of the most recent number — 53 — were detected from the Pedas cluster in Negri Sembilan and 24 from a new cleaning services company cluster. All the infections from the latter involved Bangladeshis who were sent for screening at a private clinic by their employers.
Health director-general Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah told reporters at his daily press briefing today that 20 of the Bangladeshis lived in a hostel in Kuala Langat.
Sixty-six patients were discharged, which means a total recovery of 6,235 or 80.6 per cent of the total cases.
Of the cases being treated, eight are in intensive care and two on ventilators.
