PUTRAJAYA– September 15, 2020: The highest infections were again reported in Sabah, with all 13 of the local cases confirmed in the last 24 hours being from there. Eight were from the Pulau cluster while there were also 10 imported cases.
With these confirmations, the total for the country since January 25 is now 9,969, against total recoveries of 9,209 including six most recently.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said lab tests showed the genome of the virus from the Sivaganga and Sungai clusters in Kedah to be identical with that from the Tawau cluster in Sabah but so far there’s no evidence of a link between the clusters.
The ministry is looking at curbing the spread of the virus after cases were reported in a police station and a prison in Lahad Datu. In the Benteng Lahad Datu cluster, the index case involved a foreigner in the lock-up.
The virus had infected other detainees due to congestion and delays in checks.
