PUTRAJAYA — Aug. 17, 2020: The number of cases for the country has totalled 9,212 after 12 were confirmed in the last 24 hours, with two of the cases imported and involving foreigners.
Of the local transmissions, one was detected in Selangor during screening at the Sungai Buloh Hospital and six in Kedah — four from the Tawar cluster and two from the Sala cluster.
There were also three confirmations from Penang linked to the Tawar cluster.
According to Health director-general Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, with another 17 patients discharged the number of recoveries stands at 8,876 or 96.4 per cent.
The Tawar cluster has now recorded 46 cases from the 1,135 people screened while there have been six positive cases from the Sala cluster. Another 49 of those screened and linked to the cluster are awaiting their test results.
