KUALA LUMPUR — June 23, 2020: Schools will have shorter mid-term and year-end breaks to make up for lost time as a result of the lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The movement control order enforced since March 18 caused students to lose three months of school time.

The shorter breaks mean that the mid-term break will only be for five days instead of the original nine. This applies to all schools.

For the year-end break, the holidays for schools in Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu will be for 14 days from the original 42 while those in the others states including all the federal territories will have theirs reduced from 41 to 13.

The Education Ministry in a statement on June 10 announced that all schools nationwide would reopen tomorrow but only for classes preparing for major examinations.
