KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 2020: Police arrested 35 people for attending drug parties at two condominiums in Brickfields and Wangsa Maju here early this morning.
Brickfields police chief Assistant Commissioner Zairulnizam Mohd Zainuddin said a condominium under his jurisdiction at Jalang Ang Seng was raided about 1am following a public tip-off.
All 12 suspects detained there were men aged between 17 and 33. Seven of them were tested positive for drugs.
“During the raid, four plastic packets containing cannabis were seized. Our initial investigation revealed that one of the suspects had rented the condominium through an app for RM178 per night using online banking,” Zairulnizam said in a statement.
He said the seized drugs were brought to the party by one of the suspects who purchased it from another individual for RM10 per packet.
“Participants of the wild party were invited either through WhatsApp or by phone calls,” he added.
Meanwhile, Wangsa Maju police chief Superintendent Rajab Ahad Ismail said 23 people were detained, including a 14-year-old girl during a party at a condominium along Jalan Gombak on Friday.
The girl was among 13 female suspects, aged between 14 and 23, who were detained there.
Several packets of ketamine and Eramin 5 pills were seized.
Rajab said initial investigation indicated that the people at the party were friends who were invited there through WhatsApp.
Other than facing drug-related charges, thesuspects of both cases are being investigated under Rule 11 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (PCID) (Measures within Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020 for violating the movement control order (MCO.
