KUALA LUMPUR, March 18 2020: Offenders of the directives under the Movement Control Order (MCO) can be fined not more than RM1,000 or jailed for not more than six months or both.

A Federal Government Gazette issued today stated that if the offence was by a body or a company, the director, manager, secretary or anyone in such a capacity could be charged together or as a separate entity.

It also said the alleged offenders must prove that the offence was done without his or her knowledge, and that all efforts and steps had been taken to avoid such an offence.

The gazette, titled “Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the infected local areas) Regulations 2020”, was issued under the authority of Health Minister Datuk Dr Adham Baba.

It was made by the Attorney General’s Chambers after the announcement of MCO from March 18 to 31 by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to curb the Covid-19 pandemic.
