KUALA LUMPUR — April 13, 2020: Selangor has decided to continue the suspension of Friday prayers in mosques until May 31.

In his decree today Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah also ordered that other congregational prayers and religious lectures at all mosques and surau (small prayer halls) to be postponed to the same date.

The Sultan’s private secretary Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani in a statement said the Friday prayers are to be replaced with zohor prayers at home, along with terawih prayers during the fasting month which begins later this month.

A new directive will however be issued if the Covid-19 outbreak is resolved before the end of May.

Selangor is the worst-hit Covid-19 state in the country, with 1,236 of 4,683 cases as of yesterday.
