KUALA LUMPUR — March 29, 2020: Non-governmental organisations are not allowed to send aid directly to the needy to prevent members from being infected.
Thus while the government appreciates their willingness to help, health officials are against risking them being exposed to the coronavirus.
“They have no way of knowing if the aid recipients are free of Covid-19 and they themselves might become infected.
“They then risk spreading it to others while distributing the aid or even to their own families,” said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob
NGOs and charity groups were yesterday told to send supplies to the government which will then distribute on their behalf.
