Covid-19: More cases reported than the previous day

The tabligh event in Gowa, South Sulawesi, was reportedly called off by the provincial government on the day it was due to start but by that time many of the movement's followers had already arrived.

PUTRAJAYA — April 7, 2020: The number of cases went up again in the last 24 hours, totalling 170 compared to the previous day’s 131, to bring the overall tally in the country to 3,963.

One new death was reported to bring the number of fatalities to 63. Of those being treated, 92 are in intensive care, with 50 on ventilators.

Health director-general Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said that in terms of recoveries, Malaysia has a rate of 33.3%.

The last death was that of a 71-year-old Malaysian male who also had diabetes and high blood pressure. He attended a tabligh event in Sulawesi, Indonesia, and was later admitted to hospital in Johor.
