KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 13 2020: Malaysia is not going to rush into using Russia’s Sputnik V, the world’s first registered Covid-19 vaccine.

Deputy Health Minister II Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang told the parliament today that there was still a need to further establish whether the vaccine is really effective.

“Now, we will wait and monitor the developments on this vaccine,” he said in response to a supplementary question on the matter from Fahmi Fadzil (PH-Lembah Pantai).

On when Malaysia may have its own Covid-19 vaccine, he said the ministry has conducted tests with the help of Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry and health authorities of other countries.
