Covid-19: Malaysia imposes entry ban on those from 23 countries

PUTRAJAYA — Sept. 7,  2020: Malaysia is disallowing from today people from 23 countries, including long-term pass holders, which have more than 150,000 cases.

A list at the Immigration official Facebook account today named the United States, Brazil, India, Russia, Peru, Colombia, South Africa, Mexico, Spain, Argentina, Chile, Iran, United Kingdom, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, France, Turkey, Italy, Germany, Iraq, Philippines and Indonesia.

It was announced on September 1 that the ban would affect these categories of pass holders — those with permanent resident status, Malaysia My Second Home participants, expatriates including professional visit pass (PVP) holders and resident pass holders spouses of Malaysian citizens and their children and students from the three countries who wanted to return to Malaysia.

But two days later tt was announced the restriction was to be expended to 23 countries.

Exemptions will however be exempted based on an emergency or matters pertaining to bilateral relations but only with permission from Immigration.
