KUALA LUMPUR, April 25 2020: Those who wish to go on an inter-state travel for reasons allowed under the movement control order (MCO) are required to apply for it using the Gerak Malaysia app or at the nearest police station.
Federal CID director Comm Datuk Huzir Mohamed said in a statement today that the application channels will be opened tomorrow.
“Those who do not have access to the app can make written requests for travel at their nearest police station but priority would be given to users of the Gerak Malaysia app,” he said.
The application must also be updated on Wednesday to confirm the travel destination.
“They will be able to check the status of their application on Friday via the app.
“The time period for permitted interstate travel is from May 1 to May 3 and all motorists must plan their trips accordingly,” he said.
He also pointed out for those using highways that no restaurants or food stalls will be open at all rest areas and all surau there will be closed and no group prayer activities will be allowed.
“Only toilet facilities will be allowed to operate and at car parks, motorists are only allowed to rest inside their vehicles. They will not be allowed to exit their vehicles except to go to the toilet,” he said.
Petrol stations along the highways would only be allowed to operate from 6am to noon.
