Covid-19: Five more deaths & 172 new cases (Updated)

KUALA LUMPUR — March 25, 2020: Five deaths and 172 new cases were reported today, putting the total at 20 fatalities and 1,796 cases.

Sixteen patients were discharged, making it 199 recoveries.

The latest fatality was a 76-year-old man who was at the Sri Petaling tabligh gathering. He was treated at the Sultan Ismail Petra Hospital in Kuala Krai, Kelantan.

Of the new cases, 71 were linked to the Sri Petaling gathering, while about 60 per cent of the overall total so far are linked to the event.

Health director-general Datuk Seri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said 45 cases were being treated in intensive care, with 34 needing ventilators.

Three of the latest deaths were elderly males with a history of chronic diseases while a fourth was a 68-year-old woman.
