Covid-19: Cardiologist who defied MCO to jog charged

GEORGE TOWN — March 30, 2020: A cardiologist who defied the movement control order to go jogging at a park here has been charged.

Dr. Ong Hean Teik, 61, was charged for going to Taman Bandaraya on March 19 without a valid reason and also for obstructing a public servant from discharging his duty. He claimed trial to both charges.

Magistrate Jameliah Abdul Manaf allowed bail at RM13,000 for both charges and ordered Ong to surrender his passport. She also ordered him to report to the police once a month and set mention of the case for June 9.
