Covid-19: Another spike from 41 new cases

PUTRAJAYA — June 15, 2020: The total number of cases for the country since the first few were confirmed later in January reached 8,494 in the last 24 hours when there was a spike of another 41.

Three were imported while of the local transmissions, only six affected Malaysians. The death toll remains at 121.

Thirty-one cases involving non-Malaysians were confirmed in Negri Sembilan, with 15 from the Pedas cluster, 14 from the Port Dickson Immigration Academy which housed detainees transferred from the Bukit Jalil detention and two from the cleaning company cluster. One case was detected in Kuala Lumpur.

The imported cases were of Malaysians who had returned from Singapore while of those involving Malaysians, two were reported in Selangor and Melaka respectively and one each in Negri Sembilan and Sabah.

Two of the local cases were linked to a tahfiz group.

Health director-general Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said today that 54 patients were discharged to bring the number of recoveries to 7,400.
