PUTRAJAYA — April 8, 2020: Malaysia’s total of cases breached the 4,000 mark in the last 24 hours, with confirmation of another 156 cases that brings the tally to 4,119.
There were two new deaths to make the total 65. There were also 166 recoveries, which means a total of 1,487 in this category or 36%.
Another 77 patients are in intensive care, with 45 on ventilators.
One of those who died was a Malaysian female aged 58 years who had diabetes and high blood pressure while the other was a 69-year-old Pakistani man who attended the Sri Petaling tabligh event.
A new sub-cluster has been identified in Rembau that is linked to the tabligh event.
Health director-general Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said the cluster involved staff at a school who later spread the disease to several places in Pedas, Pilin, Kundur and Batu Hampar.
As of noon today 27 were identified as positive.
