SEREMBAN — Aug. 29, 2018: A Special Election Court here today dismissed a preliminary objection by former Negri Sembilan mentri besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan to strike out a petition filed by PKR candidate for the Rantau state seat Dr S. Streram.
Judge Datuk Azimah Omar ruled that the eight non-compliance with the requirements of the Election Act raised by Mohamad had no merit and that the reasons given did not justify his move to strike out the petition.
Mohamad had filed the preliminary objection last June 25. The court will hear the petition next month and October. Besides Mohamad, Streram had named returning officer Amino Agus Suyub and the Election Commission as second and third respondent respectively.
Mohamad won unopposed after Amino Agos refused to allow Streram into the nomination centre as he did not have a pass issued by the commission. — Bernama
