KUALA LUMPUR — Feb. 7, 2020: The government’s forfeiture suits against Umno, Wanita MCA and two others to recover money allegedly linked to 1Malaysia Development Berhad were today dismissed by a High Court, with the one against Umno involving a whopping RM192,965,413.61.
In his ruling, Justice Mohamed Zaini Mazlan said he found that the amounts currently remaining in the accounts of the respondents could not have come from former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
In fact there is nothing left from the accounts left to be forfeited, even if it was to be assumed the monies were from illegitimate proceeds, noted Zaini.
Apart from the Umno account, the government had sought to retrieve RM827,250 from Binsabi Sdn. Bhd, RM337,634.78 from Perano Sdn. Bhd. and RM300,000 from Wanita MCA.
