Court allows exhumation of Cradle Fund CEO’s remains

PETALING JAYA, Oct 1 2018 : The Magistrate’s Court here today allowed an application by the police to exhume the body of Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Nazrin Hassan who was killed in a fire in his house last June.

Magistrate Nor Ariffin Hisham made the decision in chambers after hearing the application by an investigating officer representing the police.

It is understood that the application to exhume Nazrin’s body was made for a second post-mortem to be conducted and the exhumation process will take place on Wednesday.

Earlier, several of Nazrin’s family members arrived at the Petaling Jaya Court Complex at about 9.40am and were seen leaving the building about 40 minutes later.

On Sept 4, Nazrin’s wife and her ex-husband were remanded for seven days to assist in investigations into the case while on Sept 9, the victim’s stepsons, aged 14 and 16 were also remanded.

On Sept 24, Nazrin’s sister-in-law and her husband were remanded for four days.

Nazrin died at his house in Mutiara Damansara here at about 12.20 pm on June 14.

Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief said the death of Nazrin had been reclassified as a murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code following an investigation by the Fire and Rescue Department that found traces of petrol at the scene. – Bernama
