Felda: A Malaysian success story that needs to be diminished?

KUALA LUMPUR: If internal sabotage is insufficient to derail the listing of Felda, it seems external forces are being roped in to scuttle the plan that is expected to propel the

conglomerate into a formidable international player.

This in effect will increase the income and benefits enjoyed by the Felda families multi-fold.

Datuk Ahirudin Attan posted in his Rocky's Bru blog on the attempt by Malaysian Insider to diminish the Felda listing as an effort by the Barisan Nasional Government to raise some RM6 billion for its "election war chest".

What makes Debra Chong's report in the Malaysian Insider very insiduous is that it quoted a paragraph from an article originally written by Leslie Lopez for the Singapore Straits Times which did not state or mention the words "election war chest" anywhere in the article.

How Chong and Malaysian Insider managed to conjure the words "election war chest" in their article while reproducing Lopez's is quite a feat.

Despite this, blogger Big Dog, who has written a series on Felda and the move to list it, believes that it is on track and debunked the negative picture painted by Lopez and Singapore Straits Times as well as Chong and the Malaysian Insider.
