Why does Khazanah keep appointing the wrong CEOs and fail to control and monitor?
From the beginning, Bahar was a mistake similar to appointing Dato Fuad Dahalan, a salesman, to the MAS CEO post after Mohd Nor Yusof. Bahar was known for his F1 involvment and was more a sales and marketing man than a manufacturing man. When he was asked to head Lotus PLC, Proton had planned for Lotus to beef up its production and manufacturing.
Instead, Raja Azura was assigned by Khazanah as Head of Human Capital to replace the former Head with legal background and assigned CEO of Yayasan Penaraju Pendidikan Bumiputera.
Not only is this a case of someone not involved ever in education heading an education foundation, an influential and insider informed blog, Gelagat Anwar here is asking: Hanya orang Khazanah saja yang layak? (Only Khazanah people are qualified?)
This is the prevailing elitist thinking in Khazanah and it is spreading elsewhere in its companies.
