KUALA LUMPUR — January 19, 2017: A chief executive officer was today fined RM5,000 or two months jail for neglecting his horse.

Datuk Norhisam Mohamed @ Mohamed Nor, 43, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on the Dutch Warmblood horse he owned and named Lentini in Bukit Kiara on May 24 last year. He paid the fine.

In mitigation for a lighter sentence before magistrate Zuhair Rosli, he said he was unaware the horse was unwell.

Norhisam also told the court he was a bankrupt.

The Veterinary Services Department had received a public complaint about a horse that was being neglected at the stable at Bukit Kiara Equestrian & Country Resort.

Officers then took away the horse which had a leg injury. — Bernama
