KUALA LUMPUR – October 27, 2017: Barisan Nasional leaders re pleased with Budget 2018 particularly because it gives priority to addressing the people’s quality of life.

Defense Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein is grateful the budget has provided allocations for the welfare of armed forces personnel.

“The budget states that a blueprint for the housing needs of our soldiers will be announced soon. This will solve the housing problem of our soldiers. In addition to that, five army hospitals will be upgraded and five army clinics will be built.

“They (opposition leaders) may accuse us of having an election budget, but the soldiers know that the budget cannot be done overnight and is not just for the sake of election since its planning caters to our needs as far 2030,” said Hishammuddin.

Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim, said as a Sarawakian, she is delighted the budget has delivered good news to people in her state.

The budget provides RM6.5 billion for Sabah and Sarawak for projects like the Pan-Borneo Highway.

Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry, Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek described the budget as the most comprehensive ever presented.

“I am excited because the budget benefits farmers in a lot of ways, such as the RM200 cash assistance for three months in-between the harvesting season,” he said.

“The budget also recognises the role of technology in agriculture and allocates more funding to maximise its potential.”
