KUALA LUMPUR – July 10, 2015: Several bloggers have defended the prime minister’s spouse, Datuk Seri Rosmah Mansor after she came under relentless accusations in the social media.

Dr Novandri Hasan Basri of Dr MiM blog yesterday said he was dumbfounded by the indictments made by some media outlets against Rosmah.

“I just cannot believe that those media outlets had gone to such great length to spread lies to tarnish Rosmah’s image, especially in this holy month of Ramadan.

“Attacking an innocent woman is a despicable move. Hopefully those people have learnt their lessons,” he wrote.

Novandri was responding to the rumour that convicted former police commando Sirul Azhar Umar was going to testify that he was ordered by the prime minister’s wife to kill Mongolian woman Altantuya Shaariibuu in 2006.

The hearsay was concocted by a Whatsapp message claiming that Australian daily Herald Sun had reported that Sirul would testify against Rosmah in an Australian court next week.

Sirul’s lawyer, Hasnal Rezua Merican had clarified that the message was a hoax.

Meanwhile, another allegation against Rosmah was made by Sarawak Report (SR) yesterday.

SR alleged that investigation documents of the controversial 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) revealed that RM2 million was deposited into Rosmah’s account.

The London-based portal had also attached ‘Rosmah’s Identification Card (IC) number’ and the Affin Bank account number to which the money was supposed to have been wired into.

Countering this accusation, Novandri right off the bat recognised it as one of SR’s deceptions.

“The IC number of A4200637 (old IC) that was claimed to be Rosmah’s has no record of existence when it is referred to the National Registration Department (NRD).

“In addition, Rosmah is currently 64 years old; which makes it impossible for her IC number to start with an ‘A’,” he added.

Anonymous blogger of Pisau.Net in a post today also noticed the glitch in SR’s presentation of Rosmah’s IC number.

“The IC number is bogus. Even my old IC starts with ‘A32..’; she cannot be younger than I am with IC number that starts with ‘A42..’.

“Only individuals who were born after 1964 would have the ‘A’ initial in their old IC number; Rosmah was born in 1951,” he said.

Another prominent anonymous blogger of Generasi Pejuang Bangsa (GPB) today condemned the role played by pro-opposition news portal MalaysiaKini (MK) in inciting public hatred towards Rosmah.

“When people are fed with hatred, any lie would seem like the truth and that is exactly what happened with the SR’s latest lie against Rosmah.

“It has gone viral with the help of MK, and this will influence netizens who tend to believe in anything they read on social media without verifying the facts.

“MK claimed to have verified Rosmah’s IC number but why did they blur it in the posting? Are they scared the readers would do the fact-checking on their own?” he wrote.
