KUALA LUMPUR, July 25 2020: A Bangladeshi, who accused the Malaysian authorities of mistreating immigrants in an Al Jazeera documentry will be deported and blacklisted from re-entering the country.
Md Rayhan Kabir, 25 was detained by the Immigration Department yesterday evening at a condominium in Jalan Pahang here.
Immigration Department director-general Datuk Khairul Dzaimee Daud said in a statement that it took two weeks of continuous tracking and investigation to arrest Rayhan.
“I would like congratulate all those involved for their hard work and commitment,” he added.
International news agency Al Jazeera had on July 3 aired the documentary titled “Locked Up in Malaysia’s Lockdown” which alleged mistreatment of illegal immigrants during the Covid-19 lockdown.
