The new kid in Malaysia’s broadcasting industry is a high definition (HD) free-to-air programming that is set to make its debut at 6am on Aug 3.

Awesome TV will be available on Channel 112 via the free-to-air MYTV platform, and it can also be accessed online at

Branded as a mass market channel — Awesome TV aims to cater to an audience of all ages and backgrounds with various genres of local children’s entertainment, game shows, talk shows, sketch-comedy and drama.

This channel will also feature a variety of foreign entertainment — ranging from Korean, Thai, Indonesian to Bollywood and Hollywood.

Awesome TV Chief Executive Officer Datuk Adam Mohamad Ilyas described the channel as an alternative for those who enjoy “fresh and positive” entertainment.

“With a very competitive landscape of viewers — we see the potential for broadcasting, given the growing discernment among the audience in terms of choosing new and interesting programmes,” Datuk Adam said at the launch of Awesome TV on Tuesday (Jul 28), which was also attended by Malaysian veteran entertainers, among whom were Datuk Rosyam Nor, Erma Fatima and Umie Aida.

“Our goal is to raise awareness in our channel at this early stage by presenting a lineup of talented artistes along with diverse quality content,” he added.

Awesome TV Managing Director Johan Ishak is confident that the channel will be successful and well-received by the audience.

“We truly expect to reach up to 11 million number of viewers…”

“According to the Nielsen data, Malaysia’s television audience are made up of 22 million people, so the 11 million would be half of the total. Therefore, I believe in the drawing power Awesome TV will have towards the mass market,” he said.
