Increase will not affect residential customers

KUALA LUMPUR — June 29, 2016: The average gas tariff will be revised upwards by RM1.52/MMBtu, or 5.95 per cent, to RM27.05/MMBtu, effective July 15.

The revision however will not affect residential customers, for whom the tariff stays at RM19.52/MMBtu.

“As indicated by Suruhanjaya Tenaga, the tariff revision is in line with the national rationalisation plan and Gas Cost Pass-Through mechanism that will see the revision of piped gas price taking place every six months.

“While the tariff revision has no material impact on Gas Malaysia’s business operation, it is expected to contribute positively to the company’s financial position for the financial year ending this December 31, the company told Bursa Malaysia today. — Bernama
