KUALA LUMPUR — Dec. 5, 2018: Auditor-General Tan Sri Dr. Madinah Mohamad today defended her earlier statement that the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) final audit report tabled in Parliament in 2016 had been altered.
According to Public Account Committee (PAC) chairman Datuk Seri Dr. Ronald Kiandee, Madinah gave a statement which was similar to the one she had given previously.
“We obtained a lot of information from Madinah and her team today. It’s like what she had stated in her press statement earlier that the Auditor-General’s report (on 1MDB) had been tampered with.
“She gave evidence to show that the report had been altered,” Kiandee told reporters after the three-hour proceedings.
In a statement dated November 24, Madinah revealed that parts of the final audit report had been dropped or amended on orders from former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, and his former principal private secretary Tan Sri Shukry Mohd. Salleh.
Kiandee said he was satisfied with the course of the proceedings and explanations given by Madinah.
“I do not think there is any need to call her back,” he said, adding that some new names cropped up in today’s proceedings and will be summoned to testify.’
In Putrajaya, Madinah’s predecessor Tan Sri Ambrin Buang spent more than seven hours at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to give a statement in relation to investigations on the final audit report on 1MDB.status of 1MDB.
