KUALA LUMPUR – Aug 19, 2016: Residents of Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) will host a picnic at the Rimba Kiara Park on Sunday in another protest against the controversial high-rise projects that will be built in front of the park.
Organised by the residents association (TTDI RA), the picnic hopes to further impress upon the authorities that the park is a public recreational spot and should remain such, reads an association press statement.
Apart from that, the picnic will serve to update the residents and public on the matter.
Earlier in June, the residents were shaken by a contentious re-development project near the park, which was made known through a notice board put up by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
The 52 storey apartment project proposed by Malton Berhad is sited next to the park.
Ever since it became public knowledge, the matter had drawn immediate notoriety among TTDI’s residents to the point that a protest was staged on June 26.
Back then, TTDI RA president Abdul Hafiz Abu Bakar said a letter of appeal would be submitted to the prime minister to ask him to stop the project.
