KUALA LUMPUR — April 26, 2018: Ampang PKR Youth chief Datuk Adam Rosly Abdullah has been given a six months’ jail term and fined RM30,000 for giving false statements and documents to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission last year.
He was accused of giving the statements and documents to two MACC officers in relation to his work as a businessman, his income, luxury car and bungalow worth RM1.2mil in Kampung Melayu Ampang which was bought by cash, a RM200,000 loan from his mother-in-law and late grandmother, as well as a RM500,000 loan allegedly from a loan shark.
Adam was also accused of using a forged document with the intention of misleading the officers and was charged last year with six counts.
If he fails to pay the fine, he may face one year’s jail for each of the charges. The court allowed a stay pending an appeal and ordered Adam to post a RM300,000 bail with one surety and surrender his passport.
His lawyer Datuk Sulaiman Ismail pleaded for a lenient sentence and said that Adam faced a financial problem because all his assets have been confiscated.
