KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 12 2018 : Parti Amanah Negara said yesterday the distribution of parliamentary seats among the component parties of the Pakatan Harapan opposition pact is still open for discussion.

Amanah election director Dr Mohd Hatta Md Ramli said although the distribution of parliamentary seats had been announced, it would not be wrong for Amanah to seek an exchange of seats through mutual understanding.

Pakatan Harapan was looking into the distribution of seats in Sabah and Sarawak and that this would be finalised and an announcement made next week, he said at a press conference.

Mohd Hatta, who is the MP for Kuala Krai in Kelantan, said some people wrongly claimed that Amanah was marginalised in the distribution of the parliamentary seats in the peninsula, adding that the party was hopeful of being allotted a bigger number of seats in Sabah and Sarawak.

Asked about opposition expressed by some Amanah members over the distribution of seats, he said anyone could express their opinion as the door to negotiations on the matter was still open.

Pakatan Harapan announced at a convention on Jan 7 that it had distributed 165 parliamentary seats in peninsular Malaysia for contest by its component parties, namely Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (52 seats), PKR (51), DAP (35) and Amanah (27). – Bernama
