SUNGAI BESAR — June 7, 2016: Amanah has claimed that the absence of electoral commitments will be an added advantage for its candidate to win the Sungai Besar by-election.

Amanah information chief Khalid Samad insisted that newcomer Azhar Abdul Shukur who is the party’s candidate would be the perfect pick voters in the constituency.

Khalid pointed out that Barisan Nasional’s candidate Budiman Mohd Zohdi is the assemblyman for Sungai Panjang state consituency while Pas’s candidate Dr Abdul Rani Osman is the assemblyman for Meru.

“Budiman himself admitted that he had failed to develop Sungai Panjang,” Khalid claimed at a press conference at Amanah’s operation room today.

“So how can someone who fails to develop his area be trusted his area be trusted to develop another area? I think he should focus on developing Sungai Panjang first,” said Khalid who is the members of parliament (MP) for Shah Alam.

Khalid’s claims on the matter however contradicted the fact that there were numbers of Pakatan Harapan leaders who hold double posts of assemblyman and parliamentarian.

Among those leaders are PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali who is the MP for Bukit Antarabangsa and Gombak assemblyman, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng who is the MP for Bagan and the Air Putih assemblyman while PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is the MP for Kajang and Permatang Pauh assemblyman.

PKR vice president Nurul Izzah Anwar, who was also present added that it would be an homage to Azhar’s father, Datuk Abdul Shukur Siraj, a BN former assemblyman of Sungai Burung, if the Amanah candidate is to win the by-election.

She also pointed out that Azhar is a true blue Sungai Besar native.
