GEORGE TOWN — June 26, 2019: The last of four victims buried alive in the landslide at a construction site off Jalan Batu Ferringhi, Tanjung Bungah, was found early this morning, about seven hours after a search operation was launched.

Northeast district police chief ACP Che Zaimani Che Awang said the search team had earlier faced some difficulties in extracting the bodies as there were many piles of iron and a tap root. The four Myanmar workers were in the midst of building a retaining wall when the incident happened.

All did not have any identification document and police will contact the Myanmar Embassy to get more details based on fingerprint samples.

A gardener who witnessed the landslide recalled hearing a loud bang before the retaining wall collapsed.

The four workers were hired to build the wall after there were land movements at the site over the past week. — Bernama
